“Strong concept and well versed in the history of ceramics with a contemporary approach. The reliquaries in particular are intriguing and historically well rendered.”
- Denis Longchamps, Artistic Director and Chief Curator, Art Gallery of Burlington

“Joon Hee’s work immediately captivating. Porcelain heads are combined with hands, cups, animals, figures, rendered with vivid glazes (often dripping) and metal accents. They are familiar forms, but also otherworldly.” - Deborah Wang, Artistic Director, DesignTO, Judge of Best of Craft & Design Award

“ A striking display of ceramic innovation both strong and personal content and technical virtuosity. The work exemplifies a powerful commitment to her craft with tremendous momentum.” - Bruce Cochrane, Professor Emeritus of Ceramics at Sheridan College, Judge of Best of Ceramics Award

“I am incredibly honored to mount Joon’s first US solo show,” says managing partner Justin Kouri. “Her work is relatable on several levels, and it’s been an absolute pleasure working along side such a genuine and talented artist.”

“The sculptures take the vessel form as the jumping off point — pot-like bases extend up into bodies that are teeming with life. Pushing past the boundaries of the form are sculptural collages of expressive faces, gesturing hands and everyday objects. It’s unclear whether the faces represent multiple people or the various moods of one person, but it is clear from the presence of tiny pots — miniature plates and bowls dot the surfaces — that the story being told here is at least semi-autobiographical. This is the story of a life preoccupied with vessels, told in the form of a vessel.” – Robyn Wilcox, Curator
